A lot of people house their rabbits in a wooden rabbit hutch, whether raising them commercially or as pets. This is one of the oldest methods of rabbit husbandry known to man. For many years the wooden hutch has successfully kept rabbits safe and off of the ground.

The wooden hutch can be kept outside or on the inside of a shed or other building. Many people keep their rabbits inside a building to keep them safe and comfortable. People who raise rabbits commercially often have buildings that are specifically designated for housing them.

Most of these hutches are designed so that the rabbit has a private box to sleep in and a large area to move around in.

Generally these hutches are prefabricated and have areas precut for the food dispensers. A typical wooden hutch has a wooden frame with legs on it. This type of hutch can also have a wooden nesting box with a lid on it. The lid is used to change the bedding and retrieve rabbits if they are hiding in this box.

The typical hutch also has an opening located on the side or top of the other part of the cage. This part is generally made with what some people call rabbit fencing. This fencing is made from thick wire that is designed to keep rabbits from being able to get loose. It generally has small squares that a human finger could not pass through.

This fencing is thick and stiff so that rabbits can not push or chew through it. Most of the rabbit hutch manufacturers use this type of fencing because it is well known for its reliability and quality. A well designed hutch can last a very long time if it is kept clean from rabbit debris.

The bottom of a rabbit hutch allows for the waste of the animal to fall out into a tray, or on the ground. This helps keep the rabbit clean and prevents it from being exposed to its own waste, which can harbor germs and bacteria galore. Though there are several types of rabbit cages, most people prefer a wooden rabbit hutch because of its stability, top quality craftsmanship and materials, as well as its aesthetic qualities.
